No polyhalite shall be transported by road from the Doves Nest Farm site or the Lady Cross Plantation site other than during a period of eight months during the sinking of the Doves Nest Farm shaft and before the commissioning of the MTS. During this period polyhalite may only be removed from the Doves Nest Farm site in covered vehicles. Records of the quantity of polyhalite produced during the whole period of construction and operation of the mine and of the means of its transportation from DNF shall be maintained and made available to the MPA on request and no more than 13 million tonnes of polyhalite shall be produced at the mine during any period of twelve consecutive months (a rolling twelve month period). Each year on the anniversary of the Date of Production a report of the quantities of polyhalite produced in each month of the previous five years shall be submitted by the mine Operator to the MPA.
Policy MM2 of the North Yorkshire Minerals and Waste Joint Plan supports proposals to increase the volume of potash extraction at Woodsmith Mine, subject to a number of criteria. These include, inter alia, demonstrating that the development would not result in unacceptable harm to the special qualities of the North York Moors National Park, that the effects of subsidence on land stability, coastal erosion and important surface structures and infrastructure (including flood defences) are appropriately assessed and mitigated, and that acceptable arrangements are in place for the disposal of mining waste materials arising from the development. The amended scheme would maintain compliance with the relevant parameters and safeguards established through the existing planning permission and associated conditions. Specifically, these include controls and limits with regards to:
•
The extent and appearance of built development (Conditions 5, 61, 68 and 74)
• •
Noise levels (Condition 25)
Traffic, including HGV movements (Conditions 35 and 36) Ecological protections (Conditions 44, 51 and 57) Water Management (Conditions 46, 47, 81, 88, 89 and 90)
