In summary, the supplementary qualitative risk assessment included within the SES concludes that amended development at the Woodsmith Mine, Ladycross Plantation and Lockwood Beck MTS sites does not alter the original assessment of no significant impact during construction, operational and decommissioning phases. On the basis of the above, the proposed amended scheme complies with the principles set out in Chapter 14 of the NPPF; Policy ENV5 of the NYM Local Plan and; Policy SD 7 of the RCBC Local Plan and D02 of the North Yorkshire Minerals and Waste Joint Plan.

Geology and Hydrogeology

Policy ENV7 of the NYM Local Plan requires that development proposals protect the natural environment by ensuring there is no risk of harm to water quality, no compromise to surface or groundwater resources, and no unacceptable adverse impact on soil quality. Similarly, Policy D02 of the North Yorkshire Minerals and Waste Joint Plan provides that
