MTS Tunnel & Portal

The Tunnel Portal and the wider surface development at the Wilton site including the loco shed, and MHF, was originally included in both the Mine & MTS permission (R/2014/0627/FFM) and the MHF permission (R/2014/0626/FFM). Any proposed design changes at the Portal, or on the wider Anglo American Wilton Site will be subject to a separate planning application or variation to R/2014/0626/FFM. This application includes only the MTS, already constructed, tunnel and associated infrastructure, from the tunnel portal (point at which the tunnel starts, at the base of the ramp, and goes underground). There are no proposed changes to the tunnelling methodology as part of the current planning application. All current conditions and controls will remain in place and there will be no new or materially changed environmental or social impacts associated with tunnelling activities.
